bribie island,,land based
ningi creek,, secret spot 1 & 2
access here is via a dirt track that is accessable by car approx 500 mtrs passed the Bestman Rd roundabout as you enter the township of ningi,, it is easier for the newcomer to come into ningi itself, and throw a uturn and head back out of town and look for the track which is shown by a break in the double lines on the road 100 mtrs up from the ningi shops on your (now) rhs
a dirt/gravel boat ramp is at the end of this track TO YOUR RIGHT,, and easy access to a tidal creek runoff TO YOUR LEFT
ramp is suitable for small to medium craft, but watch the tide as it is shallow on low
i have personally fished this spot on countless times, and get results consistently, species range from bream, flatties, jack, eel, whiting, crab, prawns, and general bait fish if you own a cast net
i have also been busted off on the odd occasion by bigger bitey's, and even had an ugly stick """snap"" above the top grip in one battle by a beast unidentified other than it was no vermin fish,,
my grandson (4 year old chopjr) and i are generally in this area due to the good fishing opportunities, and it keeps him active with plenty of shade and bush to explore
DRAWBACKS,, the area is known to the local community,,, and on some occassions rubbish can be a problem that is left lying around by the younger generation who camp overnight and are to lazy to pick up after themselves, but other than this,, a good hole,, especially on the run up tide,, if you fish the tidal creek mouth
choppa's best from here,,,,,1.9kg jack,,,2.1kg bream,,,6 legal sandies on rod with no net,,numerous flatties over size,,and yet to be identified bust off fish
i've added to the map my secret spot 4,,, this spot is in the upper reaches of elimbah creek,,,and i must admit i was put onto this ground by another fisho,,,access is via toorbul rd,,,and turn left at the donnybrook junction,,,,thats all i'm gunna tell ya,,,other than your right on the creek,,, i've experimented with a variety of baits here,,,but live prawns if you can get em are brilliant,,, dead ones are okay,,, but livies seem to stop the pickers,,
bream in th 1kg mark are not uncommon,,, give yourself a bit of time to explore the area,,, theres heaps of roads running alongside the creek,,,and some nice holes to boot
secret spot 5 is now there,,,,caboolture river on the western banks,,, this spot opens up a lot of territory to explore,,, and a host of fishing varieties,,, dead or live bait,,,sp's,,lure,,,,theres also great crabbing around this end of the river and also great sandflies and mossie populations,,,the caboolture river is generally accesed via the beachmere ramps,,,there are are few spots along its length though that tinny owners and kayak/canoers launch from,,
amongst the table fish you'll get your share of vermin fish,,,but there good fun on light gear,,,,,,watch your rods though,,,to lose one due to a hungry ray is common,,,especially if its unattended laying down on the bank
